Crystal
Sands FAQ Page
"What
are Crystal Sands?"
They are actual bits and
pieces of minerals and gemstones. Not polished but ALL NATURAL as made
by Mother Earth and Father Time.
"Exactly
what are they?"
CRYSTAL SANDS are a combination
of: White, Clear & Smoky Quartz, Black, Pink & Green Tourmaline,
Mica, and Lepidolite (lavender).
"Where
do they come from?"
They come from a working
Tourmaline Mine in Southwest, US. I buy them in rough form called "mine
run".
"What
is 'mine run'?"
'Mine run' is debris from
regular mining operations in newly opened areas where the miners are working
new gem pockets.
"What
do you do with it? What makes it special?"
We hand separate the largest
rocks then sift it the first time to separate the larger stones and set
them aside. Sifting again gives up our coarse grade. It is set aside to
be washed. We then sift it a third time through a smaller screen to separate
the medium size grade and put it aside to be washed. Now we sift through
a fourth screen to catch the fine and extra fine sand. Each grade is thoroughly
washed, removing all
dirt, clay and impurities,
then is Sun dried. After washing and drying each size needs to be sifted
again to keep the consistancy uniform. When we are finished they
look like colorful sparkling bits of Crystals, Gemstones and Minerals in
sizes from Faery Dust to Chunks the size of hominy!
"Why
should we use Crystal Sands?"
Because Crystal Sands are
from Mother Earth
... washed in Water
... dried by Air
... concencrated by Fire
... during a Full Moon ritual
before being packaged and labled for your use. IMHO, this is the cleanest,
purest, most natural product available for Altar use. I like to think of
Crystal Sands as a tribute to Goddess.
"How
do we use Crystal Sands?"
Use them to add Earth Energy
to your Altar and in the Thruible/Censer to absorb the heat from burning
charcoal. As well, they are good grounding energy. Lithium comes from Lepidolite!
A friend uses them to Bless her Garden, another included some of the larger
stones into the construction of an outdoor Altar. An artist friend incorporates
them into her Art Work. Most people seem to use them on their Altar as
we do. They make a great conversation piece in a crystal or glass vase
with silk flowers. Their uses are only limited by your imagination.
"How
much do we use? How long can we use the same Sands?"
About an inch or so in your
censer. Scoop off used ash as much as possible and gently shake or stir
the rest into the Sands. Do this until you feel they should be changed.
